Israel carried out ‘an air aggression’ close to Damascus early on Friday, a Syrian army supply has stated.
Syrian air defences have shot down missiles fired by Israel within the skies over the capital, Damascus, SANA state information company stated early on Friday.
“At around 1:26 am today, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction southeast of Beirut, targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus,” a Syrian army supply was quoted as saying in a press release carried by SANA.
Syrian TV confirmed scenes of air defences taking pictures at targets over town.
“Our air defence confronted the aggressor’s missiles and shot down most of them, and the losses were limited to materiel,” the assertion stated.
The sound of the roaring Israeli planes flying at a low altitude over the areas on the outskirts of Beirut was heard at daybreak on Friday, witnesses stated.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which screens violence in Syria, confirmed the assault.
It stated the Israeli assault focused a Syrian authorities forces’ website utilized by pro-Iranian militias to develop weapons in Barzeh and Jamraya, rural areas close to Damascus.
The watchdog stated ambulances rushed to the focused website and the realm was cordoned off by Syrian safety.
The Israeli army declined to touch upon the reported assault on Syria.
