In line with the PM’s directive to increase the availability of oxygen in hospitals, PMO informed that PM CARES Fund gave in-principle approval for allocation of funds for the establishment of 551 dedicated Pressure Swing Adsorption Medical Oxygen Generation Plants inside public health facilities. is.

It was told by the PMO that the PM has directed that these plants should be made functional as soon as possible. These dedicated plants will be set up in the identified government hospitals at the district headquarters in various states / UTs. The PMO said that these purchases will be done through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

According to the PMO statement, the in-house captive oxygen generation facility will meet the day-to-day medical oxygen needs of these hospitals and the district. In addition, liquid healing oxygen (LMO) will serve as the “top up” for captive oxygen generation. The PMO said that such a system would for a long time ensure that government hospitals in the districts do not face sudden disruption in oxygen supply and use of sufficient uninterrupted oxygen supply for COVID-19 patients and other patients.

A sum of Rs 201.58 crore was already allocated from the PM Cares Fund for the establishment of 162 PSA therapeutic oxygen production plants in health centers in various states of the country. It is noteworthy that keeping in mind the need of a dedicated national fund for the primary purpose of dealing with any kind of emergency or crisis like Kovid-19 epidemic on 27 March 2020 and to provide relief to the people affected by it. In the circumstances, a public charitable trust was created in the name of ‘Prime Minister’s Civil Assistance and Relief Fund (PM Cares Fund)’.
