Chad Townsend has fired back at James Tedesco after the fullback claimed he sledged teen prodigy Sam Walker.

Cronulla Sharks halfback Chad Townsend has fired back at Roosters superstar James Tedesco after the Chooks fullback claimed he sledged teen prodigy Sam Walker on Saturday night.

The Roosters’ newest whiz-kid pulled off three monumental late plays to rocket the Tricolours to an epic 26-18 comeback victory over the Sharks at the SCG.

In all, Walker set up two tries while scoring a match-winning four-pointer of his own in the space of seven minutes, leading Tedesco to tell reporters post-game that it was the perfect way to respond to trash talk coming from the other side of the field.

“Townsend was giving it to him, but cop that Townsend,” Tedesco said, per NRL.com.

“He showed him how to play footy.

“They were going after him but it doesn’t faze him if you run over him. He’ll still carve you up.”

However, Townsend was less than impress with the claims, taking to Twitter to rubbish Tedesco’s suggestions.

“This is trash from Tedesco,” Townsend Tweeted.

“The only person I spoke to on the field from the Roosters was JWH.”

Townsend and Waerea-Hargreaves clashed in the 35th minute when the Roosters enforcer tackled the Sharks halfback late, conceding a penalty that saw Cronulla add an easy two points.
