Dropped Cronulla forward Andrew Fifita laid a brutal shot in the NSW Cup – and the league’s response was alarming.

The NRL’s heavy stance on foul play is clearly yet to take effect in the NSW Cup, as shown by the spineless response to a brutal Andrew Fifita high shot.

The axed Cronulla Sharks forward laid a blatant high shot on Canberra Raiders playmaker Matt Frawley last weekend but somehow escaped a send-off.

Fifita, who was playing for Sharks feeder club the Newtown Jets at Belconnen Oval in Canberra, wasn’t even sent to the sin bin.

Remarkably, the former NSW Blues and Kangaroos hardman then only received a grade-one dangerous contact/neck charge from the NSW Cup match review committee.

Fifita won’t miss a single match and has only received 90 carry-over points.
