Fremantle could be without two of their biggest stars for Round One – and that’s just the start of the horror injury toll.

Fremantle could be without superstar forward Michael Walters and dangerous ruck-forward Rory Lobb for Round One after the duo were struck down by injury in a brutal pre-season derby with West Coast.

Walters limped from the field with a right hamstring injury during the third quarter after pushing off at a stoppage, while Lobb’s left knee was caught in an agonising position when he was tackled by Tom Cole early in the match.

The Optus Stadium carnage also saw West Coast recruit Zac Langdon and Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe collide in a nasty incident, which is likely set to rule Langdon out of Round One due to a head knock.

And while no other Docker nor Eagle who competed in today’s match are expected to miss the season-opening round, Luke Shuey (ankle), Brad Sheppard (cut head), Alex Pearce (ankle), Bailey Banfield (lower-leg issue) and Mitch Crowden (ankle) suffered physical blows of their own.

“Absolute carnage on the injury front out of this pre-season derby,” said Fox Footy commentator Ben Dixon as Walters left play with a member of the Dockers’ medical team.

“That is a huge blow for Fremantle … That has huge ramifications for the start of Fremantle’s season.

“Rather deflating for Fremantle fans watching on.

“Rory Lobb is already out, which looks like a serious knee injury, and now Michael Walters with a hamstring injury.”

West Coast won the pre-season clash 9.13 (67) to 8.9 (57).

Fremantle will face Melbourne at the MCG in Round One, while West Coast are set to square off with Gold Coast at Optus Stadium.
