Andrew Johns has tipped long-time high-flyers the Sydney Roosters to tumble out of the NRL’s top four.
Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns has tipped long-time high-flyers the Sydney Roosters to tumble out of the NRL’s top four in the 2021 season.
The Tri-Colours haven’t fallen short of the top four since 2016, when they finished 15th, and won premierships in 2018 and 2019.
Johns was on brother Matthew’s SEN radio show and asked to pick his top four.
“Melbourne, Penrith, Parramatta, and Souths. I think Souths are in for a really big year,” Andrew Johns said while explaining the shock Roosters snub.
“We don’t know who their recognised halfback is.
“There’s talk of Lachie Lam, Sam Walker.
“I understand (Walker is) really impressing the players at training with his skills and his knowledge of the game, but physically he’s a while off.
“He’s still pretty small.
“I think he will get a few games this year, he will get a taste.
“Lachlan Lam I think will start there.”
Matthew Johns then tipped Gold Coast to surge up the ladder – if they can nab one huge recruit.
“In my opinion, if Cameron Smith plays for the Titans, they will make the top four,” Matthew Johns said.
Andrew saw it differently.
“Nope, no way,” he replied.
“Even with Cameron there they might make the eight, but there’s three or four teams down there fighting for that eighth position.”
