Master of Technology (MTech)

MTech is the postgraduate program after BTech. People who find themselves without a job after a BTech degree go for MTech, to sharpen their technical skills and to get more exposure to cutting-edge technologies. Students who wish for an academic career after gaining an undergraduate engineering degree should gain a master’s degree too.

Master of Design (M.Des)

Bachelor of Design graduates who want to advance in their choice of field take up M.Des course. Most sought-after design institutions in India are National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, and Industrial Design Center (IDC), established at IIT Bombay. Students can specialize in disciplines like Fashion Design, Product Design, Interior Architecture and Design, Lifestyle Accessory Design and many more according to their aptitude.

Duration: 2 to 2.5 years depending on the institution

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

MBA also falls into the category of the most coveted postgraduate programmes in India. Getting into a premium institution is really tough because the competition level is very high and admission criteria is very rigorous. A person with any undergraduate degree can opt for a postgraduate degree in business administration.

Duration: 2 year

Master of Management (MM)

This program is the cheaper alternative to MBA. It is easier to get into good institutions that offer this course, as they do not ask for the work experience of applicants. It is an internationally recognized course which provides a versatile study experience. Students can gain a diverse amount of knowledge in business related subjects like finance, accounting, marketing, Human Resources, and Information Technology.

Duration: 10 months to 2 years depending on the institution

Master of Architecture (M.Arch)

A bachelor’s degree in Architecture is sufficient to be able to do specialized projects if the architect has enough experience. But if an architect wishes to go for a teaching career or research domain or government job then having a master’s degree is essential. For those who do not wish to remain an architect, a master’s degree does not add much value.

Duration: 2 years.

Master of Education (M.Ed)

Master of Education is a mandatory qualification for those who wish to teach in secondary school and above in India. An M.Ed. degree provides a number of skills that are required to become a successful teacher. A postgraduate degree in education provides exposure to technological, philosophical, and psychological elements of education.
